About the Finance Internship Programme
The Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) Internship Programme is a structured training initiative designed to provide graduates with practical exposure to all functions within a Municipal Budget and Treasury Office.
The programme combines workplace learning with professional development, allowing interns to gain valuable experience in municipal finance, budgeting, financial reporting, risk management, auditing, and treasury operations.
Participants will receive mentorship and training aligned with the requirements of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and related financial management reforms.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the internship, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Possess a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Hold a relevant NQF Level 6 or NQF Level 7 qualification in one of the following fields:
- Accounting
- Financial Management
- Public Finance
- Economics
- Risk Management
- Auditing
- Related Finance Qualification
Required Competencies
Successful candidates should demonstrate:

- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and related applications
